Jason

I have a Windows XP Pro computer sharing directories. I am looking for the
client files that I can copy to a shared directory so that when I connect
over the network I can install the remote control software so I can process
as if I'm actually at the PC.

Thanks,
J

If I understand correctly, you're looking for the Remote Desktop
Connection client software.

If the other PC runs Windows XP, it's built-in. To run it, click
Start | All Programs | Accessories | Communications | Remote Desktop
Connection.

If the other PC runs Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000, you can download the
client software from here, put it in the shared directory, and install
it on the other PC:

Remote Desktop Connection Software Download
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/rdclientdl.asp

You can also install the client from the Windows XP CD-ROM: click
"Perform Additional Tasks", then click "Set up Remote Desktop
Connection".

Sorry - It has to installed form the CD under additional tasks which means
I have to carry a copy of XP Pro with me even for XP Pro PC's. The host
software is buit in to XP. I may be wrong for XP Pro though since it's a
while ago since I started using the other XP Pro PC as the client.

Thanks - shall have a look at this as I don't wnat to have to carry around a
$500 CD.

If the other PC runs Windows XP, you don't have to install anything
from the CD. The Remote Desktop Connection client software is built
into Windows XP (both Home Edition and Professional). It's already
installed. Run it as I indicated above.

Steve,
I found that Icon after I ran the setup.
Also I tried the setup program again today: Only runs on XP. Now this is
weird:
1. You state remote control client is built into all Windows XP OS's - so
why the file that is downloaded from MS.
2. Had to locate the XP Pro CD and install remote control client from there
and copy the temporary directory before I clicked next.
Cheers,
J

Should clarify - I downloaded the setup file from MS but when I ran it on
Windows 98 I got a message this program only runs on XP or later.
