I am new to clerical work and am not familiar with any of these programs.
Where can i get step by step training as a beginner?

what programs are you referring to? this newsgroup answers questions about
developing databases using MS Access relational database software. if you're
talking about Microsoft's Office Suite of software, there are many, many
resources to learn the basics of the software programs in Office, and
advanced instruction also. go to a local bookstore and look in the Computers
section; or browse/search bookstores online; look for tutorials at
Microsoft's website and/or do a Google search for tutorials; check your
local schools, colleges/universities, community centers, state Employment
offices, for free and/or cheap classes for adults.

And, don't forget the free online courses you can find by following the
Learning or Training links at http://office.micrsoft.com. There are quite a
number of brief online courses, aimed at the end-user (last I looked, none
were "VBA programming oriented."

Not an online source but a very good one is VBA Developer's Handbook
by Ken Getz and Mike Gilbert published by Sybex. It's available from
Barnes & Noble both new and used.

While a fabulous resource, I'm not sure I'd consider it appropriate for a
beginner.

Video Professor might be OK -- but be sure to open the package when it
arrives and read the fine print if you don't want to pay for the free disk.
It would also be a good idea to check for complaints before signing up.
(Google works well).

At your local community college. Possibly your employer will pay for the
classes. And if you are very lucky, you'll have me or Roger Carlson as the
instructor. ;-)

Yes, I have a copy of every edition and wouldn't give up any of them -- who
knows when I might have to do some Access 2.0 maintenance? :-)

But, I definitely do not consider it appropriate for a beginner.
