Hi,

recently i installed a 3 gigabyte program, and when i
uninstalled it, the local 'c' drive should give back the
3 gigs.

But for some reason, i didn't get my 3 gigs back, and i
went to program files to make sure the folder wasn't
there.

I tried scandisk, disk defragment, disk clean up, and i
still can't get my 3 gigs back....

Somebody please help me.

Thank you

John,

Are you sure about the size of the program being 3 gigs? That figure is
about twice the size of the installation requirement for Windows XP
Professional. Even Adobe Creative Suite tops out at 2 gigs.

How did you uninstall the programme? Have you emptied your recycle bin?

To see what is on your hard drive you need to change a number of settings. Select Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings, and check "Show hidden files and folders". Whilst there uncheck "Hide File Extensions". Also check "Display the contents of system folders". Have you already done this?

Do you use and Norton or McAfee utilities? If yes please provide details.

Hope this helps.

I know of no program that requires 3 Gigs of HDD space. The system
requirements may have stated that 3 Gigs is necessary to install, as the
installer sets up a temp file to expand installation files, and may create a
folder to backup files that it may change, but after all is said and done,
most programs take up far far less than 3GB when installed. I seriously
doubt that your program takes up 3 Gigs.
