Hi Mary
Look in your current Favorites folder (see below to find) and see if the
list of favorites you want are there. If not, then you been infected by
some type of malware that has corrupted your Favorites folder.
Locating Favorites:
C:\WIndows\Favorites
When running Windows XP you can find your favorites under:
C:\Documents and Settings\[USER NAME]\Favorites
They will appear as shortcuts.

This is most likely due to corrupt InternetShortcut or http file
association. "Reset Web Settings" fixes this symptom. Another option is to
run the command "regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll" from Start/Run dialog.

First, Quick Favorites Search, here:

and then Favorites Search, here:

I use both of them and they both work well. Favorites Search is an IE
toolbar which opens a frame in your browser, while QFS opens a separate
window, but offers more versatile search parameters and is faster. Both
Recommended.
And a third, but not free, solution is PowerMarks, here:

powerful and with considerable additional capabilities. Also

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Be sure to run CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot.
Also be sure to use the HijackThis. Please do not post your log to this
newsgroup, but to the SpywareInfo or the Aumha HiJackThis forums
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30, to allow the experts there to
evaluate your log and advise you of the necessary steps to clean your
system.
Then create a new Favorites folder as per the instructions at the URL below:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers3.htm#favorites
If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.
Hope this helps
