Hi friends,
I rght click on a txt file. I press properties. Now, I am supposed to have
several segments among which one of is "summary". However, I do not have
it!!!!!! All of my friends` computers have this but my xp "home edition"
does not have it somehow.
This problem is also happening with pdf files.
Till now, only .doc and .xls files have this segment in the properties menu.
Where are the segments???? I want my segments in the properties menu
back!!!!
thanx!

Text files and PDF files do not have the "segments" you are looking for.

Cross-posting to so many newgroups, especially with a trivial problem, is
considered very rude.

they do have!
my friends have them and I just discovered that on my ntfs disk they are
there but on my fat32 disk they dont.

Youmay be right about cross posting, i am sorry for this
but you can not jusdge if my problem is a tirival or a serious one.
A problem is a problem and it is not trivial for me anyway.
Every problem is serious and this is why this groups are here.

Apparently, you mean "tabs" not "segments".
And yes they are there on an NTFS drive but not on a FAT32 drive.
One of the differences, perhaps?

Well, sounds like you answered your own question. Your friends have the
Summary tab, so what file system are they using? FAT32 or NTFS? On
your NTFS formatted partition, the Summary tab is there. On your FAT32
partition, the Summary tab is missing. If your friends are using NTFS,
if your NTFS partition works, but your FAT32 partition is missing the
property tab, what might the problem be?

See http://www.ntfs.com/ntfs_vs_fat.htm and note the addition of
"custom" file attributes when using NTFS. Use the 'convert' command to
switch from FAT32 to NTFS.

You posted to irrelevant newsgroups. *.virtualpc is for the Virtual PC
product (that Microsoft bought a little while ago and is a cheaper and
not as secure competitor to VMware) and used to run multiple operating
systems (albeit anything other than DOS/Windows is "other") on one host,
and doesn't have anything to do with the property sheets (aka
"segments") of what you asked about. I don't inhabit the
*.perform_maintain newsgroup but that doesn't sound like an appropriate
newsgroup, either. When cross-posting, try to keep it to 4 newsgroups
maximum, and try to pick the best 1 or 2 that seem most appropriate.
Probably the *.windowsxp.basics, *.windowsxp.newsusers, or
*.windowsxp.general would've been the most appropriate and just one
would've been sufficient (pick the one with the most traffic).
