Could someone please tell me where my special setup choices and option
choices are saved in Excel? Should my boot drive crash, it would be good to
have a backup of such in the event of the need to reinstall. Thank you very
much for any help in this matter.

Excel.xlb (Toolbar customisations)
Personal.xls (Macros that operate on any workbook), (Only there if you have
saved macros to them)
Book.xlt (Template to establish settings for new workbooks (Only exists is
created, not normal
Sheet.xlt (Template to establish settings for worksheets added to
workbooks), (Only exists if created, not normal)

Bear in mind with Office versions after 2000, you have the 'save my
settings' wizard in Office Tools. This is very reliable for all Office Apps

If you are talking about customize menus etc they are in a file called *.xlb
* depending on the excel version, 2003 is named Excel11.xlb and if you have
created a special template called Book.xlt then there would be settings
there as well. There is nothing as Word's Normal.dot

Nick ... pardon my ignorance, having used Word as well as Excel only a short
time. I have Office Word 2003. Did I have an option to install the Office
Tools, and the save my settings wizard when I installed Word? Thanks again.

It should have installed automatically

In Windows...Start>All Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Office Tools>Save
My Settings Wizard

I have that on my two machines (Office XP and 2003), although I always do a
full install, I suspect that doesn't matter

Thanks Nick ...it was there as you suggested. I have a couple of different
(boot) drives that I have to swap in and out during the day.Can the changes
to one setup (drive) be applied to office applications on the other
drive(s), Thanks again for your help

Again, thanks Nick. I went ahead and applied it to my second boot drive and
all special settings transferred. What a nice saving of time and effort.
