Did you do an upgrade from a previous version of Windows? If so, what
version did you upgrade to?
If you installed XP over a previous OS, it's important to select the
"Upgrade" option, otherwise you will end up with a clean install next to
your old install, and your applications will not be displayed in the start
menu.
For a quick solution for your documents, you can click start, right-click My
Documents, and click Properties. From here you can change the target to your
documents folders by clicking the "Move..." button and selecting your
document folders. Clicking Apply and OK will finish the task.
