When I add a new place to my "favorites" the icon changes
from the web site's to the IE icon. I would like to keep
the icon that comes with saving the web site. ????

These Icons are stored in >>
C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files

The contents of these files get deleted. Icons revert back to the generic
ugly IE e.

IE | Tools | Internet Options | General tab | Settings button | View Files
button | Scroll down to whatever *.ico files you want to keep | Left click
favicon.ico | Drag to Desktop | Rename to whatever | Store in a folder such
as >> C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\My Documents\ICONS

Open Favorites | Right click whatever item | Properties | Change Icon |
button | Browse button | Click: My Documents or wherever *.ico are stored |
Click whatever *.ico | Open button | OK | Apply | OK
Repeat as necessary.

If you move any *.ico files after customizing your shortcut/favorite, the
icon will revert back to the blue e.

Are you deleting temp internet files?
Do NOT delete "offline content" as this also deletes the icons. I believe
the icons are stored in a hidden folder called Content.IE5.

Maybe this is not real good advice. Why would you want to store something
that you want to make use of in a folder called Temporary Internet Files?

The key word here is Temporary. The Favicons show up in both sets of
Temporary Internet Files folders.

If you do not clean out your Temporary Internet Files once in a while
this can cause problems.

Here a few problems that may be caused by Temporary Internet Files that are
too full....

Internet Explorer Saves Images As Bitmaps (.bmp Files)
The Disk Cleanup Tool Stops Responding
Error Message When You Open Photo: "The Page Cannot Be Displayed"
OL2000: Internet Free/Busy Information Not Updated
Money: Error Message: Money Is Unable to Verify Your Online Sign In
OLEXP: Sent Web Page Is the Cached Version of the Web Page Not the Most
Current Version of the Web Page
Outlook Express message appears blank and has an ATT000XX.txt or an
ATT000XX.htm attachment
