Where Are Folders Info Stored?

Does anyone know where the folders info are stored at. Example: In My
Music folder, I have the folder types at MusicArtist. This sets
everthing at Thumbnail View and I can right click a sub-folder so I can
use "Add to Now Playing List". I noticed there's a file called
desktop.ini. This doesn't seem to be consistent as I can delete this
file and nothing changes. My guess is the folder info is stored
somewhere else like the registry or something.

Basically, I want to write a program that can go into specific folders
and automatically set each folder type. Here's a link to give a visual

Spawn, Just a suggestion: The Thumbnails Work Well for videos as a Master
folder. But you need the individual files for pics.& music. If you want to
Play a slide show with Pics. the thumbnails (Folders) Have to be Open. Same
With the music. To add to now playing list you have to access the individual
files (songs).Asthectally the Thumnails are more more attractive. My
documents folder are thumbnails. EX. I have One (My Wozuments) and I put a
red (Classified) On the folder. Also Windows Explorer will help you navigate
if you decide to stay with the Thumbnails. i have helped people Organize
there Music. The reason, they have so many folders and can't navigate. More
