Where are email attachments stored?

We are using Exchange 2000 and wondering where attachments to emails are stored.
Are they stored in the mail boxes or seperated to some other folder?

Also, if someone sends an an internal email containng attachments to multiple recipients, are those attachments saved multiple times?

Look up Single Instance Storage on the MSDN page for your version of
Exchange. It will explain all.
