I am using MSOutlook 2002 with a local *.pst file for
email storage. Does anyone know where are EMAIL ACCOUNT
settings are stored?

It's in the registry.

Windows NT-based operating system:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\profilename\

Windows 9x-based operating system:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\profilename\

Thanks Patrick! Can you think of any reason why I have
to modify my POP3 field in Outlook every time I launch
the application?

Is it changing to localhost? Disable the email scanning function in your
AV program.

In my email account settings it will not save any of the
modifications that I make. It will take the "userID"
field and add a "/" to the end of the ID string, then it
will append the "Incoming POP3" server string to that.
The "Incoming POP3" server field always defaults back
to "localhost". Any ideas as to what is happening with
this thing? Thanks.

Disabling the email scanning in my AV fixed it! I guess
I'll be making a phone call to my AV program company!
Thanks very much for the help!

rifleman has the answer. This is usually your antivirus program. Try
disabling the e-mail option(s) in it. A certain version of Symantec's AV
software is the one I believe has this behavior.
