The first thing you should verify is that there really is no one else using
the database. You can stop that for certain by using the folder permissions.
If people currently have Read, Write, Delete permission to the folder the
database is in then, unless you have also implemented User Level security,
they can open the database without you knowing it.

Second, if you are certain that you are the only one using these databases,
then the next obvious suspect is some kind of corruption. Check the
following website for possible causes: www.granite.ab.ca/corruptmdbs.htm.
Try to compact and repair your database. If that fails, download the
Jetcomp.exe utility from Microsoft and try compacting the database with it.

Hi

I have a problem with two access databases at work.
First, about a month ago I was using a small database that I developed and
it was working fine. I was the only one working on the database although it
is on a network. Next morning I started the database but all the tables,
forms and queries had gone. I checked more than once, with the same result.
I restored the data from a backup and so far it has been fine.

Today I opened another database which our company has been running for
years. The same thing happened to this database, I.e. all the tables, forms
and quires had gone. Again I was the only person using the database the day
before. AGAIN THANK GOD FOR BACKUPS.

Can anyone shed some light on what maybe happening! Is there a virus that
does this sort of thing? We are running an anti-virus program that is
constantly updated.

Many thanks
ozydave
