whenever i do nslookup it says server: unknown

however it displays the correct ip address and also
resolves the names to ip address correctly

it is also root domain controller for my network

Does nslookup say "can't find server name for address <ipaddressof DNS
server>"?

This is nslookup looking for a PTR record for the DNS server's IP address.
