When XP release its SP2?

We "intend" to ship SP2 for Windows XP in Q3 of calendar year 2003
The precise date will be set when we reach the required quality bar and all
testing has been completed and signed off by all those parties that
participate in it.

Until we make a public announcement, Q3 2003 is the closest we can say.

Actually Mike, that page says Q3 2004 not 2003.

reinstallation of xp the other day and it had put the sp2
updates on. When I go to my add/remove programs, the
updates show as sp2, but when I go to the windows update
page and look at my installed updates, it shows as sp1.
Oh well. I guess they're out now.

No, you don't have it on your system. SP2 is not out yet.
Microsoft's nomenclature is very confusing here. What you have
are hotfixes that are marked as planned to be included as part of
SP2 when it's released.
