Every time I start word, one of my files appears instead of a new blank document. If I close the document and open a new document, then the normal template opens. How do I get it to open with the normal template instead of my saved file?

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm

The MVPS link asks people to help explain how their Normal.dot gets changed.

Due to Security settings by default being low, as well as MAcro security
being low, it could be the fault of brazen programmers and script
afficionados trying to attack PC that download any form of document off the
net.
Both Word and Widnows security settings must be raised against macros.

See for yourself how easy it is to generate a macro, or a VBasic
script --open Tools-Macro.

Regards.
