I have a problem using a 3rd party add in with MS Word 2003 that is critical
to my job. The add in vendor says it is a known bug but how do I find out if
Microsoft will ever fix the problem. The vendor won't take ownership for the
problem and just points to Microsoft.
I assume this problem affects other add ins as well?
Description of problem:
I'm using Stedman's Smartype with Word 2003, and occasionally, when I
begin to type, I get three duplicate letters in a row, then the cursor
scrolls to the bottom of the screen and Word crashes. How can I keep this
from happening?
This problem occurs in Word 2003 when you highlight a word (using
either the mouse or the ctrl+shift+arrow keys) and begin typing to replace
the highlighted text, rather than using the Delete key to delete the
highlighted text. Microsoft has acknowledged that this is due to a problem
with their programming interface for Word 2003. We are actively searching
for a work-around to this issue, but until we do, we strongly recommend
using the Delete key to remove text from your Word 2003 document and
apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
