When I try to edit query field, text is automatically selected - bizarre!

I don't know what happened, but it's happened before. Has anyone seen this?

When I try to edit the contents of a query field, wherever I put the cursor,
the text from the end of the field to the placement of the cursor is
highlighted. I can't just put the cursor in and delete one character. I have
to delete from that character to the end of the field and type the whole
thing in all over again. I may get rid of it by rebooting or recompiling or
something, but I'd like to know what causes it.

Thanks,

Bill

PS. When I use the arrow keys, it's as though I was using Shift + Arrow (L or
R)

It also happens in table fields

It sounds like the Accessibility Wizard (part of Windows OS) has been
activated.

Use Windows Start / Programs / Accessories / Accessibility to adjust /
deactivate the accessibility options.

Van,

Thanks for the suggestion. I neglected to mention that it only happens in
Access. All other applications function normally. It's really strange, but
it's happened a couple of times before. I might suspect it was a problem in
the OS, except for the fact that it only happens in Access when it happens at
all.

OK. If it is not that, I don't know.

Post your Windows version and Access version including SPs.

Van,

Thanks for you help.

Win2K V5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 3)
Access2K (9.0.4402 SR-1) (Not part of Office2K.)

My company pushed Office2003 onto my desk top a couple of weeks ago, but this
particular problem has occurred several times before that installation.

Sorry, don't know this problem if it is not the Accessiblitiy of Windows.
Actually, I still suspect the Accessibility.

Try this: check the Accessibility Options in the Control Panel and make sure
everything is off. When this happens again, simply press any 2 keys at the
same time and see if the behaviour stops. If it does, it is the
Accessibility (StickyKeys) being activated.

Very annoying isn't it! I think you'll find that, when it happens, EXT is
status bar at the lower bottom right of your access window. That happens
when you've hit F8 (yes, you've probably been debugging something and MSFT
reuses the same function key to both step thru code and put the extended
selection highlight on - go figure!). Just press ESC when it happens and the
EXT should go away.

Hope this helps.
