When I try and attach a file to an email (Outlook 2002)

The file will not be able to be seen by some people who receive the email if
it is embedded vs. attached. How do I get Outlook to a file instead of
embedding it?

Composing your message in Rich Text format will do two things: one is that
your attachments will appear in the body of the message (although they're
not really embedded, they just appear that way) and two is that your
recipients will not be able to see them, since Rich text format is
Outlook-specific. Change your format to Plain Text or HTML.
