when i start my system ,got CLC.EXE error
n when i touch my CPU my system goes to hang
so help me regarding this problem
If "touch my CPU" means that you touch the case for your computer and it
causes an error, expect an electrical short somewhere. Static electricity
problems you would recognize. But not as easy to recognize - touching the
computer provides a "ground" and a change in the PC behavior. Odd problem
if that's what it is.
The other possible meaning that I can think of for "touch my CPU" would be
using your mouse or keyboard. If you are waking the system from sleep and
getting this error, the system is not returning from sleep gracefully. As
devices wake from sleep, drivers and associated programs re-engage.
CLE.EXE is erring and producing an error message. CLE.EXE is a portion of
the ATI Catalyst driver package. It provides the fancy Catalyst control
panel for tweaking your ATI settings. Personally, I never install this as
it often produces errors on my system too. Instead I install the basic
driver package. It doesn't give the fancy Catalyst screen but it does add
ATI settings in Display Properties.
So you have a choice:
1) check for an updated driver package from ATI. Maybe a newer Catalyst
version has this error fixed.
2) uninstall the current driver package and install the basic drivers
(minus the fancy Catalyst control panel)
The last time I was at the ATI site, it was difficult to find a package
that did not include the Catalyst control panel. If that happens or if you
just prefer having it and need to avoid the CLE.EXE error - skip putting
the system in sleep state. You can use "always on" and still turn off the
monitor after X minutes (preserves backlight if you have a LED monitor).
Not a perfect option but one that will reduce your stress level until a
Catalyst package without errors shows up at the ATI site.
Someone else mentioned CLE.EXE as malware. I've always seen it as a part of
ATI (ok) but can't rule out the malware possibility (not okay). If you do
not have ATI hardware, definitely check your system for malware. If you do
have ATI hardware... aww, heck. Check it anyhow. Never hurts to be extra
cautious where possible malware is concerned.
