When i click record, the only option i have is audio (MM)

i have a dell inspiron5100 w/ windowa xp and it has movie
maker. when i click record the only option i have is
audio only. video is shadowed and unclickable. i have a
sony handycam and i connect it with s-video from the
camera and s-video connection on my laptop. why won't it
recognize my camera??? thx

S-Video connections on computers, especially laptops, are almost exclusively
OUTPUT only. To connected a video camera, you would normally need either a
Firewire connection, or a video capture device on your computer with
appropriate s-video inputs...
