Hi All!

I have two accounts on my computer (an XP Home). One is me, the other
is guest. I am looking for a way of securing my account so that my
data is kept private from guest users.

I have marked my account as requiring a password when the account
screen (showing two accounts with pictures on a blue background) comes
up.

When I first got the computer and set it up, it seemed like if I had
not used the keyboard or mouse for ten minutes it would log me out of
the main account and send me back to the log in screen I mentioned
above.

I seem to have lost that function now. Now my account stays open
however long I'm away from the computer. How did this happen? How
can I prevent this?

I have been all over the Control Panel and Help, with no luck.

Ideally, if I can get the time-out system back up and running, I would
like to alter the time before automatic log out to make it shorter.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi David F-B,

You probably had the screensaver password protection enabled before, and
have since disabled it or opted for None for screensaver. Right-click a
blank area of the Desktop, select Properties then Screensaver tab. Choose a
Screensaver from the drop-down picklist if None is chosen, select a Wait
time that is shorter than 10 minutes, and click in the checkbox beside "On
resume, password protect" to place a checkmark there. Click on Apply then
OK.

Regards,
