What's up with scrolling in WXPPro?

I have an MS trackball mouse. New install of WXP on a new PC. When I use
the wheel to scroll, the page appears to "flip" up or donw line by line.
It's very distracting, slow, and irritating.

Is there any way to get back to a simply scroll up or down without the
visual hijinks?

Thanks

Visit the website of the manufacturer of your computer or video card,
search for Windows XP video drivers, download and install them.

If you have a notebook computer, visit the website of the manufacturer
of your notebook computer to obtain the Windows XP video adapter drivers.

Then right-click on your Desktop and select:
Properties > Setting and adjust your Screen Resolution
settings, then select "Highest (32 bit) Color Quality setting,
and click "apply".

Thanks but that's not it. I have a new PC with the proper drivers for the
video card -- I just downloaded them.

The screen res settings are 32 bit color as you have suggested.

I think this may be something new in XP. I'm using a MS Trackball, but even
when I set the wheel to scroll only one line at a time, type on the whole
screen jumps up (or down) one line. It's visually very distracting, and
there apparently is no way to cancel the scroll command. So for example, if
I roll the wheel several times, the screen rolls up or down several times
(really slowly) but all other movement is frozen until the scrolling is
completed. Berak, Escape, nothing works to stop it.

Annoying, really. Speaking of that, I'll have a look at O'reilly's PC
Annoyance and see if they have a solution.

Cheers,
Barbara
