Whats up with my machine?

Hello to all,
I wonder if you can help me out because i'm in a bit of a kaffuffle!

Ok, sunday morning I wanted to write some files to a CD so I put a blank CD
in my drive, and nothing happened. The disc spun like it always does but
nothing opened up (like the autorun asking 'what do you want to do with this
disc?') so I went into my computer to open the drive itself, but the icon for
it wasn't there! Neither was my dvd drive icon (which is broke anyway). But I
didn't have time to try and fix it because I had to go to work. So I got in
tonight and restored my computer to an earlier time (i think last thursday)
Low and behold it works, my CD and DVD drives are back, phew!
But another problem occured, my internet wouldn't work properly! It would
dial and connect when I opened it but there was nothing there, when I typed a
new URL and pressed enter nothing happened! Arrrgh! So I restored it back to
today, my internet works but my CD and DVD drives have gone!
Does anyone know whats up with it? I use Mozilla Firefox for the internet,
but I tried it through IE explorer and it just said page could not be
displayed. I recently got a trial version of EZ Armour Antivirus, could that
have anything to do with it?

Any error messages showing up anywhere? Any errors shown in
Device Manager? Try working backwards and uninstalling anything
new and see what happens. This might answer the question about
EZ Armour Antivirus.
