In Outlook 2007 I get a "the messaging interface has returned an unknown
error" when I open one of my mail folders, and then the items in the folder
are not shown. Instead, I get a "cannot display information". What is this
error about, and how do I fix it?

Have you installed Beta 2 Technical Refresh yet?

The error could be a symptom of a problem with your .pst file. After you install B2TR, try creating a new mail profile for troubleshooting purposes, then using that profile, try to open your existing .pst file with the File | OPen | Outlook Data File command.

OK, I can open the .pst with the new profile, but how do I fix it for the
existing profile. Do I have to use the new profile and reopen the .pst every
time I start Outlook now?

If the .pst file opens with a new profile but not with the old, it's pretty safe to conclude that the old profile is corrupt and you'll probably want to use a new one. You can make your .pst file the default store in the settings for the new profile.

No. Make the new profile your default profile.
