Can anyone here recommend some good XP books?
No "For Dummies" or "Idiot's Guide To" please, they are too basic.
Something geared to someone who likes to tweak and customize but doesn't
know alot about dos or how to write scripts. For someone who knows the
silly pc isn't going to explode just because you tinkered with MS's
default settings.
I already have "Window XP Annoyances" by David A. Karp.

This is a good one.. a new one is also supplied with a CD.. contains an
electronic version of the same and some 'author extras'..

The one Will Denny & Mike Hall recommended ("Microsoft Windows XP Inside
Out") is a good one. Nearly always recommended by the critics and users. But
make sure you order the Second Edition which was only recently published
within the last month or so, since this edition contains info on SP2.

Great book. I have had it from day one. A mine of information.

I recommend that anyone looking for a good book to go to the bookstore with
the intention of spending a couple of hours looking at what is available,
and purchasing a book that is easily understood by the reader.

The reason I do this is everyone his different comprehension levels. For
beginners with Windows XP I have recommended a book that is either
"Simplified Windows XP" or "Windows XP Simplified" (I found it at Staples a
couple of years ago) but I wouldn't recommend anyone buy it without
reviewing it first. It worked well for my niece, but I purchased the Windows
XP Bible for myself because I worked with WIN 95, WIN98SE, and taught
courses on these prior to using WIN XP. It all depends on what level your
knowledge is.
