I'm confused on what to do !!! I go to windows update
site and numerous times the update SP1 is there. I try to
download it, and at first it tells me, this xp version is
not a compatable version. I wait a few seconds and it
appears it's downloading and tells me to reboot. I go
back to windows update to check View Installation History
and it says it was downloaded successfully, but it's
still in the critical updates to download, however when I
click on Help on IE tool bar and view which version I
have it says Internet Explorer 6 with 6 different update
versions.(none with SP1 in it)
Just today, on this newsgroup, I found an article
stating, how HP Pc's have an issue with this update and
to download the patch, on the HP web-site. I did and
saved it to my computer for now.
Here are my questions:::
1. Am I viewing the version I have correctly ? If not,
how do I tell if I have SP1 installed ?
2. Can I delete all the SP1 in add and remove programs,
as it appears 38 times (SP1 Hotfix) but I don't think
it's really installed and also I would like to clean all
this up, if possible ?
3. Is there a safe way to delete all these hot fixes in
add and remove program, as each one is taking up 45.16 MB
of space ?
Thank You For any advice.

You are confused by IE 6.0 SP1 and Windows update service
package1.Click on help at the top of Microsoft internet
explorer page.Click on internet options,it will show you
what version IE you have.Does it show IE 6?If so,look for
SP1 and the updates should be listed.I would not delete
any of these, but if you have any (one)number listed 6
times,I would question that.
You now should go to control panel and click on system. In
the general tab it should show what OS (XP) what version
and if you have SP1 or SP1a Windows update patch
installed it should say so there. If it don't,and that is
what you are having trouble installing,I would order the
SP1 CD from Microsoft(about $10)and download it from that.
Also, to confuse you more, which I think Microsoft likes
to do,there is also a SP1 patch for office XP programs.
