What to do with disgarded equipment?

After years of tinkering and upgrading, I have all kinds of old video
cards, various PCI cards, old mb's, old memory, and scads of parallel
and serial cables.

Does anyone know if there is a charity or group that would welcome this
old computer technology? I could throw it away but that seems wasteful.
I doubt that I would get much for any of it on eBay and would rather
just pack it up and ship it off if someone could use it.

Thanks

donate to the salvation army...or the local thrift store.

If they'll take it. Some round my area won't take electronics, because
of the cost of getting it safety tested before reselling it. Maybe not a
problem for components though. Give it a try by all means.

He could always look up the local computer club, if there are still such
things. Many people there would love to get a big pile of hardware to
play with!

Almost all of them here in the LA area carrie all kinds of electrical
stuff....tuners, computers, speakers etc etc etc...hehehe and some of it
shouldn't sold because of the condition its in.

Ken,

There is a woman over in an Annexcafe newsgroup that I have sent stuff to in
the past. She recycles, repairs, builds, etc. computers for people that
can't afford the cost. I'm not sure but I think she does it through a Church
group, she doesn't charge for her expertise.

If you're interested: news.annexcafe.com and then
annexcafe.general.user2user. She goes by Tami.

That depends on where you are. Call a charity group that seems likely
and if they don't do it, they probably can tell you who does. Also, you
never know what you can sell on ebay. NASA shops there! :-)

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

Thanks, all. I will check with local charities to see if they are
interested; otherwise, I will check with Tami.

What to do with discarded equipment?

Call a local trade school or community college's computer departments &
see if they would like to take your donation of your old PC hardware.
