What things to turn off?

I'm setting up a system that will be running behind a firewall/NAT router.
This system will be running two games and nothing else. It won't be browsing
the net or be used for anything else, just the game alone. What things can
be turned off and what items can be changed to get every bit of performance
possible from the system. Not just services but network settings in the
registry and such. I'm running World of Warcraft right now and possibly Eve
Online. I'm talking only about OS items here and not anything with the
hardware. XP has lots of extra stuff in it that takes up memory and CPU
cycles that simply are not needed in this environment. I want to strip the
OS down so that it can run World of Warcraft in the best possible manner.

I haven't got the fiscal resources to build a new system so I have to get
everything I can out of this one and do all my browsing/other junk on the
second system.

Thank you for any help that you can provide.

Sounds like you know what you're talking about, otherwise you wouldn't make
statements like "XP has lots of extra stuff in it that takes up memory and
CPU cycles that simply are not needed in this environment." So why not just
turn off all that "extra stuff" that you know is "not needed in this
environment."

Actually yes I do know what I'm doing BUT I'm betting that there is still
more that I can do. I went to
http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973,5155,00.asp and I also have a copy
of the tweaks that were on Blackviper before it shut down. However I'm
hoping to squeaze a little more juice out of the system. I was thinking that
there might be some things in the registry that can be removed/changed. If I
could grind it down to the size of DOS I would. Or make the games run off of
DOS I would. Love it or hate it one thing about DOS was that it didn't take
much for system resources to make it run.
