What type of file is the tempory internet files folder? How does it keep
updating with all the pages that you view on the net? I tried copying it and
it just copied what was in it at the time of being copied, but did not update
when I went on the web like the original file does. Is the recent folder the
same type as well?

It is a folder file. Explorer uses this folder as a cache. It isn't
surprising that Explorer did not update the copy. The recent documents
folder contains shortcuts to the most recently used documents.
It looks like XP maintains this folder; I haven't looked further because the
issue is not important to me.

Why would you want to copy it? The main purpose of temp internet files is to
make your internet experience better by remembering details about you and
loading pages faster the next time you visit a site.

I'm not sure of your reasons for wanting to do this. If you want to copy
favourites to another pc for example then this is something differant
entirely.
