Please introduce some free software that is user friendly for hotmail. I
think Outlook occupies much memory.

Thanks in advance.

OOPS! My bad! Thanks for catching me Gordon, actually Thunderbird works
fine with free hotmail you just have to have freepops which I failed to
mention. Smith Just go to this website and download and install freepops
also you will need to download the hotmail update .lua file and save it in
c:\program files\freepops\lua\ after installing freepops. Then just follow
the tutorials at freepops and it will tell you everything you need to know to
set up hotmail.

Good Luck again,

there are limitations on freepops though aren't there. it will only download
mail in the Inbox. if you have other folders in Hotmail, it won't access
them AFAIR....(unless they've changed it....)

Outlook Express allow complete Hotmail access, providing your Hotmail account
is allowed to have Windows access (WinDEV???) A couple of years ago, MS
turned off the Windows access to Hotmail free account, stating that Spammers
were using this. They were allowing "old" Hotmail accounts (like mine.)

I've been using Hotmail with Firefox with no problems for over a year.
Of course the mail sits on the web rather than on my computer.

But the OP will need a third-party add-in to read and send Hotmail!

This is hotmails response to using pop clients:

1 - Access to POP e-mail accounts from Hotmail is a subscription-only
service, and is not available to free Hotmail accounts.

If using a paid account:

Your Internet service provider (ISP) may restrict the use of
third-party software, such as Hotmail, to access POP e-mail accounts.

* Contact your ISP to verify you can access your POP account with
third-party software.

Good Luck,

Trev

That, according to Hotmail, is true unfortunately.
I'm not sure about Yahoo though you may want to
check their website to see if they allow "free" access
via third party software.

So, as long as I use free hotmail, I can not access to the account with
third-party software?

Do a google for "freepops". There are some limitations I believe, in that
you can only download emails that are in your Inbox - if you have emails in
other folders in your Hotmail account, you can't access them using this
utility.

You know,

Why don't you just use outlook express instead of outlook. It doesn't take
up too much memory and has full functionality with hotmail. I like
thunderbird better but freepops does have it's limitations. Good Luck.
