What should be a site?

I am wondering what the official requirements are to have
a site? I have seen stated that it is when a DC is
seperated from other DCs by a slow link. I have also seen
it stated when a DC is seperated from other DCs by a
subnet.

If you have a location that is connected by a WAN (like
T1) should each subnet have its own DC? or does it depend
on how many PC's are on that connection?

Rich the best is to cover each physical site with a subnet and a Active
Directory Site and place a Domain Controller in each site.

How ever you are right there can be scenarios there you may have sites with
only 3-5users and its not necessary to setup a dedicated Domain Controller.

A site is a collection of subnets with usually at least 10MBit or better. It
is also used to control replication in conjunction with domains.
