Have a machine with Win2K that I mainly run Photoshop on:
1Gb RAM. PS is a major memory hog, so I would like to turn
off as many services as I can while not losing my network
connection to our LAN or the web. I haven't found anything
by searching so I thought I'd ask: Other than things I
recognize, like realsched, acrotray, and nav, there are
multiple svchost processes in TM, and other stuff: what
can I turn off to give PS that little bit more?

I consider my Win2K machine to be absolute barebones,
here are the processes running on my system:

System Idle Process
System
smss.exe
csrss.exe
stisvc.exe (This one's probably optional , I need it for scanner/fax)
winlogon.exe
services.exe
lsass.exe
svchost.exe (2 instances)
explorer.exe

But every environment is different, so proceed carefully when
disabling services. Make sure you have a full backup, do one
service at a time, and set each to "manual" instead of "disabled".
Check all system and network functionality (printing etc) after
each change.
