What? No cab files on my Cd?

On Win9x I could see what was in my CD's cab files with my zip program. My
Win 2000 CD just has loads of files with odd names

eg Beam_I.CU_ and C_037.NL_

Is this normal?

yes .... if you want you can copy the i386 folder to your PC ...
that folder is the equivalent of the 9X cabs

Is there any advantage in doing that, Steve?

Yes, your hd is MUCH faster then your CD!
and if at some point you lose access to your cd, you still
have the files on HD
