I have an email that says its from MS telling me to
download some explorer etc updates to protect my
computer. I have heard that some people send out emails
in the name of MS that are not MS and not safe. I don't
know what to do as for some reason I am not able to send
MS an email or pull up a phone number to call and check.
I clicked on "get phone numbers and "send email" but
nothing woul come up. I don't know who to trust and it's
very frustrating when I can't even call someone to
confirm what updates I should download. I don't have a
system administrator as I am a very small business.
Please help. Thanks so much! John

Microsoft never sends file attachments with email messages!

It is rather simple to be safe, if you just remember one
thing : get you updates directly from microsoft.

You can use Windows Update, or if you have many
machines in you business you could install Software
Update Service on a Windows Server and let it stand
in place for Windows Update for all your machines.

You may also go to microsoft.com/technet/security
and within security bulletins follow the links to the
downloads.

Whatever you do, just verify that the updates are being
sourced from a Microsoft site, not just a link that looks
like it goes to a Microsoft site.
