Whenever I go to the following web site, a dashboard popup appear on top of
the web page for a few seconds:
http://www.nwsource.com/outdoors/scr/

I cannot figure out how to disable it. Does it use activeX, javascript,
vbscript, or what to put up the dashboard? If I disable scripting
completely, then it doesn't show, but I cannot narrow down it further.

If I use mozilla firefox to browse the same page, there is no popup.
However, a friend using IE also does not get this popup. So I'm puzzled.

Any ideas?

download spybot from safer-networking.org and update and
scan on easy and remove spyware.
also mozilla has built in popup blocker.

Hi Peter,

It seems that the pop-up is caused by ActiveX plugin. You can disable them
by follow the steps below:

1. Launch Internet Explorer, click Tools on the toolbar, and click Internet
Options.
2. Select Security tab, click Custom Level.
3. Under ActiveX controls and plug-ins, disable follows:
" Download signed ActiveX controls
" Download unsigned ActiveX controls
" Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe
" Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
" Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
4. Press OK to confirm and restart Internet Explorer to check the issue
again.

In addition, I suggest you install Google Toolbar to block Pop-ups. You can
download it from the link below:
