It is good enough as a starter. In my opinion the book is just too thick for what it covers. For instance, there are only 10 pages on threading, and I think that this is not enough for advanced coders

If you want to know more about advanced topics (events, threading, remoting, serialization, security ...) I recommend the following book

"Programming .NET Components" - Juval Löwy / O'Reill

I don't. Like you I am coming from Delphi and I bought this book. It should
be called Professional C# for Visual Basic Programmers. Over and over again
new features are compared to VB as they are introduced. I find it very
tiresome. After reading the first few chapters, I rely more on the web than
the book for learning new topics. I'm sure there are some good books out
there, but this one did not meet my expectations.
