I have a Compag Presario 5010AN AMD Athlon 2400 and the following message
comes up just about every half hour!

Could not load the target dll ("C:\Program Files\backWeb\BackWeb
Client\6.2.3.66L\Program\frcom.dll" error code 126)

What is it?

BackWeb is nothing to do with Microsoft or XP and everything to do with HP
and Compaq. It's a program (often identified as spyware) which sends
details of your PC to HP (who now own Compaq) and looks to see if there are
any updates you may need or that HP want your PC to have.

It can be removed from the Add/Remove Programs with absolutely no ill
effects to XP.

Thanks Cari for your advice and reply. I looked in Add/remove Programs and
the only thing that resembles this is "Compaq Connections" - Size 1.14mgs.
Is this what i should remove?

Start, Run (type) MSCONFIG

In the Startup folder... uncheck the entry for BackWeb.

Click on Apply, then OK. Restart the PC... now it should no longer appear
as it's not started.

I went to do this but it's not listed in the the Start-Up folder. I looked
in the other folders and can't see it either! What do i do now?
