Newbie here - sorry if this is a dumb question - I just started
with win xp pro (sp1a) and discovered the event viewer. I
cleared the logs last night (no warnings or errors at that time).
I started Diskeeper's boot time defragmenter and went to bed
at midnight. Got up this morning at 6 and that task had completed.
I started the event viewer and saw 1 error:
*************************************************************
Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10010
Date: 10/3/2003
Time: 4:07:55 AM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: KG0WX
Description:
The server {80EE4902-33A8-11D1-A213-0080C88593A5} did not register
with DCOM within the required timeout.
Explanation
The server was launched but there was no reply from the server. The
application might be configured incorrectly.
User Action
Check that the application is configured properly
*************************************************************
I started dcomcnfg and looked in Component Services/Computers/My Computer
/DCOM Config/ but 80EE4902-33A8-11D1-A213-0080C88593A5 is not
listed anywhere in there.
I looked in the system registry and found this:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{80EE4902-33A8-11d1-A213-0080C88593A5}
Diskeeper FAT engine
Now the boot time defragmenter is started on a manual reboot, which I did
before going to bed at midnight. I have Diskeeper's set it & forget it set
for
auto defrag daily between 11 pm and 5 am. This procedure started last night
but was interupted when I rebooted. Is that the source of the error? Accor-
ding to the boot time defragmenter's log, it finished at 3:51:48 am, just 15
minutes before this error was logged by the event viewer.
I'm fairly new to all this and not sure what I'm doing so I'm not going to
guess. I
need to know how to resolve this problem or even if I should worry about it.
Help!
