WHAT IS THIS CAUSED FROM?????

When playing any games like "medal of honor", etc.. on
this computer,i get a really low FPS (frames per second).
I was told that fps pertains to your video card, so i
upgraded to a much better video. I also have another
computer that gets a GREAT fps rate and the video card is
not as good as "the new" video card i bought for the one
i am having trouble with. what else would be causing me
to have such an EXTREMELY low fps rate?

Incomplete Information.

What speed is the computer processor?
How much memory do you have?
What speed is your hard drive and how much free space do you have on it?
When was the last time you defragmented your hard drive?
Have you downloaded/installed the latest video card driver from the
internet?
What version of DirectX are you running?
Have you checked for adware/spyware that could affect overall performance?
 
I would also add what is your display format (in pixels wide by pixels
tall) and your color depth. A fair comparison between the two systems
(all other things being equal) would also need equal display formats and
color depths.

More pixels and more colors means 'throwing around' more bits.

I have found that games are the type of 'application' that often stress
a computers performance most. So much so that you would think that the
hardware manufacturers would spend some money developing new games that
only their newest hardware could handle in order to encourage users to
buy new hardware!

So much is involved in getting high FPS that it's very hard to eliminate any
thing. Yes FPS does have a lot to do with your video card but so does your
connection if you play online. The amount of memory has alot to do with
smooth game play (rule of thunb, if you can afford it chunk as much memory
[RAM] as you can get in it). If you have one thing that is resticting the
pipeline then you will get low FPS or lag. So when a gamer like ourselves
does an upgrade my advice to you is to go all the way with it. Memory is
cheap so start there and then get out your mainboard manual and see if you
can go higher on your processor. Alot of times changing your FSB multiplier
can give you a lot of speed. Just so much invoved it's hard to say exactly
what has caused it on your system(could be a anti virus running in the
background) it's just a matter of tweaking this or that until you find it.
But always remember to back yourself up with the "restore " feature in case
something goes wrong.....Keith
