What is the text limit for a single cell?

From Excel help:

Length of cell contents (text) 32,767 characters. Only 1,024 display in a
cell; all 32,767 display in the formula bar.
 
From XL help file article "Excel specifications and limits"

Length of cell contents (text): 32,767 characters. Only 1,024 display in a
cell; all 32,767 display in the formula bar.

Note that you can display more in a cell with the use of line break
[Alt+Enter when typing, CHAR(10) when formulas]
