In Win XP SP2, I have an item named "System Analyzer". When I
double-click it, nothing happens. The context menu contains only
"Open" (which does nothing) and "Create Shortcut".

Anyone know what it is?

I should have said that "System Analyzer" appears in Control Panel.

Does this program sound familiar:

PC Wizard 2006

If so, you might want to take a look at this discussion:

Following up on my earlier response:

I just installed PC Wizard 2006 on my test machine. It created an icon
in Control Panel named "System Analyzer". The icon consists of a blue
wizard on a white background with a yellow border.

My best guess is that you may have had this program installed on your
system at one time and when it was uninstalled it left behind the
Control Panel entry. One way to remove the icon from the CP is to rename
this file, C:\Window\System32\PCWizard.cpl, to PCWizard.cpl.old. Another
approach would be to reinstall and uninstall the program in the hopes
that the icon would be removed.

Good luck

That was it! It was placed there by an old version of PC Wizard, but
the link from Control Panel did not work. The Control Panel item went
away when I removed PC Wizard.

I installed the latest version of PC Wizard which put System Analyzer
back in Control Panel, but now it works.

Many thanks!

Thanks, Carol, but I had already done a Google search to no avail.

I'm sorry to hear that none of the Google links were helpful to you, but
I see that you found the correct info & a cure thru Nepatsfan. That's
the important thing. 8^)
