what is spyware?

can someone tell me what does spyware -if i say it right-
mean,
how can i check my system,
and what problems does it cause ?

Spyware is software that gets installed along with other software and does
things like track usage habits, watch what sites you go to and "advertise"
what it thinks is related to what you're looking at, that sort of thing. It
often "sneaks in" with other software, is a privacy issue, and takes up
resources.

To get rid of it, find something like Ad-Aware from Lavasoft and run it.
