What does this mean and how do I fix it? When logging on
Using XP Home we get this message "memory access
violation in module kernel 32 at 3141:41443633."

Thanks. It seems impossible to find someone at MS to
help.

You have been infected with the Swen virus, presumably from a fake
email containing an attachment purporting to be a security update from
Microsoft. Get a free removal utility by going to
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/tools.list.html and
clicking on the W32.Swen.A@mm item

Then make sure your antivirus software is completely up to date, with
the virus definition files not more than 10 days old, and do a
complete virus scan of your hard drive. Or you can do a free online
virus scan of your hard drive at http://housecall.trendmicro.com

If you need a good antivirus program try the free version of AVG6 from
www.grisoft.com

Good luck

Hi Doug,

It means you believed one of those faked security emails that is going
around. Swen worm, see:

https://www.europe.f-secure.com/v-descs/swen.shtml
http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=helpCenter&hcName=swen
http://www.viruslist.com/eng/viruslist.html?id=88029

Clue: Microsoft does not distribute updates or patches via e-mail. You
likely recently received and installed one of these faked support emails.
