what program or service it is associated with and can I
delete this 523MB file from my C:\drive?

thanks

that file is created by the hibernation process. if you don't use
hibernation go to the power options control panel, disable hibernation, and
then it should be safe to delete it.

Hi

If you don't need/want to use Hibernation - right click on the Desktop, select Properties and then the Screen Saver tab. Click on the Hibernate tab and then disable 'Enable hibernation' - Apply>OK your way out. The hiberfil.sys is then automatically deleted - no need to manually delete it - it has already gone!!

Options - Hibernate page and uncheck the 'Enable' box. When you Apply,
