What is Futuremark?

I inadvertently removed a program in "ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS" called
"Futuremark ..........". I don't know what is was and so far I haven't
noticed any effect. I Googled the Futuremark name and found that they are
in the business of computer benchmark testing. I have no idea how it got
there in the first place---I know I didn't specifically download or purchase
it. Do you have any idea how it could have got there?
 
The Microsoft Game Advisor installs Futuremark to determine whether your
system can handle the games in their database. Have you used the Game
Advisor?
