Anti virus asks to allow/disallow connection to subject manager. XP Help
doesn't explain. So is it a SP 3 device? It's not in add/remove list, nor in
processes list. Is it safe to allow? Thanks in advance for your insights and
knowledge.

What anti-virus application is involved here? Did you just install it?

Have you ever seen this prompt before?

Is it an HP computer? A Mac?

Avast; long installed; have seen almost every day; not an HP, nor a Mac.
I've never used a download facilitating type softtware.
Thanks for your response.

Later: this from google - Download Service Manager NT 1.6 - A Windows NT
Services ...Sep 30, 2008 ... Service Manager NT, A Windows NT Services
administration utility.
www.softpedia.com/get/Network-Tools/Misc-Networking-Tools/Service-Manager-NT.shtml
-
Nothing from MicroSoft.
I'll disallow it and see what happens.

Avast Free, P.A. Avast isn't a part of the ZA alert. I'm temporarily
disallowing this D/L service and will make it permanent if nothing happens.
I clicked your link to forum but found nothing there on topic, Thanks for
the link and your attention to this not very critical prob.

| Avast4 free or Avast Pro?
|
| Are you sure it isn't your firewall asking about this, Rob?

My blunder, PA. Going now to the ZA forum you kindly linked.

| In your first post, you told us that your anti-virus app was throwing this
| alert, not your firewall: "Anti virus asks to allow/disallow connection to
| subject manager." That's why I pointed you to the Avast forums; it's also
| why I asked for clarification in my last reply.
|
| Since it's a ZA alert...

Will do, PA. Today, the thing appeared in ZA, I denied, and in a few days
will make it permanent. Thanks..

Personally, I think you made the right choice and wouldn't worry anymore
about it...unless you're wondering WTF "Download Service Manager" is. <w>
