What is "cidaemon.exe" doing?

I run WXP SP1 (with all the patches, almost SP2).
If I leave the computer idle for a little while (a couple of minutes or so)
a process "cidaemon.exe" starts running. It uses an increasing amount of
CPU - up to 100%. Sometimes it can be "disturbed" by the press on a button,
and then it goes down to zero CPU usage. Sometimes it does not react at all.
Is this normal XP behaviour? What is the task for this process?
