I have been having intermittent slowdowns on my computer. I went to the task
manager, and there do seem to be surges, even with nothing running, Just the
processes that were put in after a new OS was installed.I did notice an
application there by the name of ccproxy.exe that is taking up a lot of cpu
usage. About 94,000K. I read about it, and it doesn't sound like something I
need. Can I delete it out of the task manager without causing any other
programs or applications to fail to operate? I am not on a network, and I
don't plan on having one. Could this be the source of my showdowns
(freezes)? Any info would be appreciated. Virgo

Run your AV program.
Sophos Anti-Virus for one, tries to delete many files including the one you
mention.
Also download, update & run Spybot, Search & Destroy.

ccproxy.exe is part of Symantec software which I assume you have installed,
& normally resides in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\"

So this goes with my Norton? And I do need it? I'm sorry, I don't quite
understand why I should download spybot. Please explain.

I gave Norton away quite a while ago as I found it too resource intensive as
it runs in the background continually and over a period of time seems to
make many PCs gradually slow down. Even when you disable it in Task Manager,
part of it is still running.
This probably explains why ccproxy.exe is using so much memory.

Why Spybot? To make sure there's nothing else there that shouldn't be &
could be intermittently using resources.
