What is causing this connection attempt?

Recently, I've started to get messages like this popping up suddenly,
apparently regardless of what application I'm using:
"You (or a program) have requested information from isatap. Which
connection do you want to use?"

It's rather similar to the message I get telling me that my Pocket PC
is (quite rightly) trying to connect to AvantGo, using Pass Through on
my PX (XP Home). But in that case I can always just Cancel if it's not
convenient to go online at that moment.

But in this case, on clicking Cancel, usually a similar message
appears again, but this time, instead of 'isatap' (whatever that is),
it says
"You (or a program) have requested information from 207.46.156.252."
That proceeds indefinitely. I noted these addresses in each message:
207.46.244.188.
207.46.249.252.
207.46.249.252.
207.46.250.222.
207.46.250.222.
207.46.250.252.
207.46.144.188.
207.46.144.222.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what's happening here please, and how to
stop it? (In reasonably non-technical terms if possible.) I expect it
will turn out to be something I've installed and forgotten about <g>.

Hello Terry,

It sounds like you have picked up a spy-ware program on your pc or worse
a virus .
Make sure that your virus software is up to date. Also go to this site
and download their program AD-aware 6 (from the left side column.
http://www.lavasoft.de/
Install it and run it. it will find the spy-ware then you can select and
delete the offending rascals. The download is free, the advanced stuff you
will have to pay for.
I run it and it pulls stuff out all the time. This stuff piggy backs on WEB
pages and installs itself, really a pain in the posterior

Good Luck,

Good Luck,
Thanks, Supertech. Have run Adaware 6 as you suggested. (I had an
older version, but updated it after your post.) It this:
obj[0]=File : c:\windows\downloaded program files\cnshook.dll

plus no fewer than 76 cookies like this:
obj[1]=File : c:\documents and settings\[myuser
name]\cookies\terryl@tribalfusion[1].txt

I deleted all 77, but frankly without any depth understanding...

From a reply elsewhere, I also tried visiting each of those sites,
like:
http://207.46.244.188/207.46.244.188
That - and all the others - all take me to a Microsoft MSN
page. Still no idea why though! But for time being I've uninstalled
MSN Messenger, which I hardly use anyway.
