I don't have this program in my computer, and I have XP and Office
2003.

It appears to be related to several applications. Have you installed
the software PC Alarm Clock?

Find the folder it's located on, right-click on the program and select
properties, you might get information about its designers, which
company made it, etc.

Also check this page:
http://www.google.com/search?q=what is alarm.exe windows xp

Good luck

Could be anything. Don't think part of Office or XP. I have Office 2003
and searched my entire disk and did not find this file. I suspect it
has something to do with providing alarms.

Right mouse click on the file and check properties for origin.

If you are really concerned, search for "alarm.exe" on Google to get
clues (although this is hardly expected to be a unique file name).

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

I noticed that at startup ,cmd.exe was in my running processes. There
appears to be a link between this behaviour and alarm.exe as if i
double clicked on alarm.exe which lived in c:/windows/system32/ it
launched another instance of cmd.exe in my running processes. Alarm
..exe is not tagged as a microsoft product in the properties listing.
In fact there is no info on it. I therefore deleted it and so far ,no
cmd.exe at startup..strange business
